Literacy for early years
Mrs Muddle Makes a Magic Potion
Mrs Muddle goes on an Autumn walk and collects pieces of nature along the way. She then makes a ‘Magic Potion.’ This PowerPoint has 18 slides and is an early years resource. It is interactive and engaging. I have aimed to show Autumn in all its glory and have included a little magic for halloween. There are who, what and where questions and an opportunity to look at some positional language. The photographs highlight Autumn colours and nightime and daytime skies.
Enjoy!
Sam's Mystery Trip
This resource is all about Sam’s trip to the zoo. It is ideal for encouraging the use of animal sounds and the language big, small, bigger and smaller. It is an inclusive, interactive resource and there is an introduction to the ‘Who am I game’ at the end. The children could make crowns and stick on their favorite animal. The crowns then have to be placed on the child’s head without them seeing the picture. To play the game the children have to ask questions about the animal on their crown to find out who they are. This game encourages descriptive language of the animals and the animal sounds.
For older children there could be a debate about the role of zoos. Discussing themes about consevation, animal habitat and whether or not animals would be living in the wild.
Hope you enjoy.
